If you’re ever shopping in Fort Lauderdale and looking for an assortment of fashionable designer brands, Lilac and Lilies is the place to go. Madison, J Brand Jeans and House of Harlow are some of the many designers that can be found at the store located on East Sunrise Boulevard. Lilac and Lilies prides itself on being women’s clothing experts for any season.

Owner Michelle DiMarco recently sat down with to discuss how she started her business and continues to successfully run it. After attending school and traveling, DiMarco began analyzing the business side to opening her store. “It was something I’d always wanted to do and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else,” she said. A lot of thought went into naming the clothing store. DiMarco wanted to come up with a name that was both feminine and unique. She opened Lilac and Lilies 3 years ago at another location where she was able to learn, build her brand, and develop a website. After her lease was up, she took a risk and moved the store to a prime location in Fort Lauderdale.

Customer service along with having customers find what they want is very important to her. DiMarco told, “I want my customer to have a memorable experience.” Word gets out about Lilac and Lilies through social networks like Facebook and Twitter, blogs and being involved with the community through philanthropy. Giving back to the community is so important to DiMarco; she makes it a point to do charity work at least twice a week. Although she began her business not fully aware of what she was getting into, over time DiMarco has learned the importance of being involved in all aspects of the business. “I’m very hands on, I play a part in everything that happens, and I’m at it every day,” she said, “You get out of it what you put in. If you work hard at it, it definitely pays off.”
Lilac and Lilies has been featured in The Sun Post, The Miami Herald, and Lucky magazine for its fashion forward outfits and accessories along with its great online deals. The store even has celebrity customers including Paris Hilton. Also, DiMarco styled actress Amber Heard for a red carpet event with items from the store. In the future DiMarco would like to franchise Lilac and Lilies. She feels very strongly about following her dreams and said, “If you have a feeling to do something, just work hard and don’t give up, ever.”
